Mardi Gras in Shreveport @ the Highland Parade

Tom should have won the Mr. Positive Exuberance Award , as the Mardi Gras floats were rolling by.

Here are some photos that we managed to take at the Krewe of Highland Mardi Gras parade. When it was time for the parade to come by, the crowd (several thousand strong) that were along the Krewe of Highland Mardi Gras parade route, had a great time!  It started out with a little drizzle, but then a little more rain, but the people kept coming to line the streets in the historic Highland district.  We joined some of the TomsMaHauL.com crew, only a block away from the parade, and enjoyed conversation with the many friends that stopped by for food & beverages.  There were also friends that drove over from Dallas for the parade.  At parade time, the friends (all ages) made the short stroll to join the huge crowd at the Mardi Gras parade.

One of the largest Shreveport breweries is Great Raft Brewing. They’re the pride of the Highland district, and, often, the Great Raft Brewing location is a popular gathering point for friends & events. The crowd cheered as the Great Raft float passed by, during the Krewe of Highland Mardi Gras Parade.
The Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure float was a popular favorite.
Dozens of great Mardi Gras floats rolled by, & area high school bands performed along the parade route. There were some vintage fire trucks & other entries in this huge parade, that were, all, well received by the huge crowd.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show float had some of the crowd singing “Time Warp”, as the float passed by.

We’ve attended this Mardi Gras parade for several years….

This Mardi Gras float was FAR OUT, man! NowsVille! Peachy King! Neeto Mosquito! Hip! Groovy Daddo-O.
LSU Football decorated floats always get fans yelling “Geaux Tigers”!

There are many other Mardi Gras parades held in Shreveport, and throughout our ArkLaTex region. Over the years, our family has been on floats in Mardi Gras Parades. These days, Tom & Teri prefer to be spectators and enjoy the view from the crowd.

The thought has crossed our minds to enter our ’69 Chevelle in a Mardi Gras parade again, like we did for a Lake Bistineau Mardi Gras Parade several years ago.
It’s Mardi Gras BABY! We’re ready!

SPECIAL THANKS ARE IN ORDER: We’d like to send a special thanks to TomsMaHauL.com team members, Justin & Regan, who opened up their home (a block from the parade route) to many people, as families and friends stopped by for some of Regan’s excellent gumbo, Teri’s breakfast casserole with samplings of Fat Tuesday’s King Cake flavors & beverages – including when Justin set up the Great Raft beer kegs (on tap in “J.B.’s Beer Garden” next to their house). Justin was the one who put together this TomsMaHauL.com website, as we were the test-subject for his website design venture. Justin has since built a site for our good friend over at Dottie’s Delights Dog Treats , and Justin is working on other websites now. Justin builds user-friendly websites, that are modern & offer great viewing on computers, tablets and smart phones. And, Justin is always reachable, in the event assistance or changes are needed. Email us info@TomsMaHauL.com if you’d like to get in touch with Justin for web work.
