Aurora, Texas is only 20 minutes (west) of Texas Motor Speedway, so, during our stay at the track for several days, we took time to roll in the Jeep and explore the story of the 1897 Aurora UFO crash & space alien burial site.
We found the cemetery where an out-of-this-world alien is, supposedly, buried. Fort Worth newspaper articles from 1897 reported that a UFO crashed into a farmer’s windmill in Aurora, Texas and that the alien body was buried in the Aurora Cemetery.
Among the information on the Aurora Cemetery Historical marker is information about the legend of an area 1897 spaceship crash with the other-worldy alien buried on the grounds.
While Teri was reading the Aurora (Tx) Cemetery marker, Teri captured a photo of Tom strolling into the graveyard to find the stone that marks where the space alien was buried after the (reported) nearby 1897 UFO crash.
It took some looking around, but Tom spotted the rock that marks where the Aurora townspeople, supposedly, buried the alien that was killed when a UFO crashed into a local farmer’s windmill in 1897. Tom read a report that, in the past 3 decades or so, the alien body may have been removed from the grave by agents, and the stone was placed back in the location. Who knows?
There were many pennies and trinkets on, and around, the stone that marks the burial site of an alien that died while crashing a UFO into a local Aurora, Texas farmer’s windmill in 1897.
There are only a few area business establishments in Aurora (Tx), and some captured our attention, as their business names related to the UFO windmill crash. Since we’ve judged different cook-offs over the years, we had to try the barbecue at the Smoking Windmill. Very tasty barbecue!
Martian Margaritas were sold next door. It’s also a live music venue with an Area 114 stage (the town is west of Texas Motor Speedway on Highway 114).
