Scottish Tartan Festival (Minden, La.)

***The Scottish Tartan Festival is annual Spring season event near Minden, Louisiana.*** In the photo, we enjoy a great rendition of “Amazing Grace”, performed by several bagpipe & drum performers. Tom left his sunglasses on during the performance, as bagpipes doing that song are about the only time that Tom’s eyes get wet.

We roll the TomsMaHauL motorhome (frequently) around the ArkLaTex region supporting “live” entertainment, where ever it can be found. In the photo: America’s Celtic rock band, CLEGHORN, performed an excellent show on one of the stages at the Scottish Tartan Festival at Minden, Louisiana

Upon arriving at the Scottish Tartan Festival at Minden, Louisiana , Tom noticed a man with a Scottish accent. A nice gentleman from Scotland spoke to us for awhile, before performing on his bagpipe for on-lookers.

We noticed some belly dancers at the Scottish Tartan Festival, and enjoyed their performance. Tom was heard telling an on-looker (Scottish gentleman) “I didn’t know that there were belly dancers in Scotland.” The Scottish gentleman replied “You’ve never been to the pubs in Scotland, have you?”

***While strolling the festival grounds, we stopped to observe a sword fighting (aka fencing) exhibition.***

There were many exhibits, performers, animals, vendors, food & beverages. We had a wonderful time with the huge crowd at the festival, and we’ll plan to return to future Scottish Tartan Festivals. For more information on the annual Scottish Tartan Festival, click HERE
