Most of our journeys start with getting the TomsMaHauL.com motorhome out of the barn in Bossier City. After hitching the Jeep to the RV, Tom is behind the steering wheel. We check to make sure that the motorhome & Jeep lights are all working properly. Then, we roll.
Quick video (above) after we arrived & set up in our spot at Wright Patman Lake.
The part of Rocky Point Park @ Wright Patman Lake that we usually stay in, was closed during the Winter season, so we chose this spot. This spot had A LOT of space between neighbors, along with a good view of the lake and other areas of the park. This level spot was at a high point in the park, so when it rained, our camping area didn’t have any standing water around. This is a 30amp power supply spot, but plenty of power for our Winter camping needs. Over the years, we’ve had 30amp powered rvs, so we knew how to manage the power consumption.
Our favorite spot at Rocky Point/Wright Patman Lake is where we’ll, usually, stay when visiting this area between the beginning of Spring & the end of Fall. This spot isn’t available in the Winter.
On a September evening, Teri “The Fire Queen” is at the fire pit. Once it gets dark, & cooler, the fire is… just right.
Teri gets in her early morning walking time during our stay. Tom joins Teri for evening walks, when we spot plenty of deer in the campground.

Tom takes the time to “sit a spell” and enjoy the view of the lake.
On one of our trips to this area, it was time to roll around the region in the Jeep. With an ominous sky, and thunder in the area, we felt that the appropriate thing to do would be to pull into The Monster Mart in Fouke, Arkansas (25 minutes from Wright Patman Lake). Several movies have been made about the Boggy Creek monster. Inside this store, is a section dedicated to “evidence” and information about the legend of the Boggy Creek monster. Many Bigfoot events have been held in this area of Southwest Arkansas and Northeast Texas.
A MYSTERIOUS lady (that resembled Teri) took a photo, after she dared Tom to put his mask on the Boggy Creek monster.
After leaving the Fouke Monster Mart, it was a short drive north to Texarkana. Part of the city is in Arkansas, and the other part is in Texas. On State Line Boulevard, we decided to get a selfie photo with the state line marker at the city’s half-&-half Federal Building/Courthouse/Post Office. Teri wanted to be in Texas, but Tom got there first. Teri called him “T. Texas Tom”. Teri won’t tell Tom what the “T” stands for. Tom is currently under the assumption that the “T” means “Terrific!”. It’s reported on RoadsideAmerica.com that this is the only government building in the U.S. that straddles a state line.
We enjoyed the tour of the Historic Ace of Clubs House Museum in Texarkana. No photos allowed inside, but we’ll report that there are over 500 pair of shoes in a room on the 3rd floor. Cool museum! Great tour guide! This house was built in 1885, and was constructed in the shape of a club with three octagonal wings and an rectangular wing. This house is considered one of the most unique in the country. Guided tours are available by appointment. More info HERE
One summer, when in this area to visit close friends at a national barrel racing event at the Texarkana Four States Fairgrounds, we joined a family for an afternoon dinner at Pops Place. It was then that we decided this place was a “do-over”, so we stopped in at Pops Place again months later during a Wright Patman Lake stay. Photo of Tom volunteering to work the greeting counter for a few minutes at Pops Place restaurant in Texarkana. Tom was hungry, and decided to show Teri to our table.
Enjoying the experience in Texarkana with The pride of Caddo Lake… Jefferson, Texas band… SnakeBone rockin Fat Jack’s (Texarkana). We’ve always been fans, and supporters, of our local and regional musicians & entertainers.
Many rodeo events are held at the Four States Fairgrounds in Texarkana. Photo from a barrel racing event that we attended.
Back at our spot at Rocky Point on Wright Patman Lake, we enjoy evening flames in the fire pit, while spotting deer & other critters roaming around.
