Arkansas Little Grand Canyon, White Oak Lake & Poison Springs

Upon our arrival, Teri strolled down to capture a photo of the White Oak Lake State Park entry, after Tom pulled over to unhook the Jeep from the TomsMaHauL.com motorhome.
Trippin’ w/ Tom & Teri after a Friday afternoon supper, chillin’ around the campfire in our White Oak Lake State Park RV spot, while we talked about Saturday’s plan to visit the nearby Little Grand Canyon & Poison Springs Battleground + hike some of the White Oak Lake Park trails.

Here is an impromptu video that Teri made from an area at the Arkansas Little Grand Canyon

NOTE: Along with driving from White Oak Lake State Park (like we did in our Jeep) to the Little Grand Canyon, the park offers kayak, paddle boat & motorboat rentals so you can cross the lake to the Little Grand Canyon. The White Oak Lake Park visitors center (where you check in) provides maps and info on the surrounding area, as well as some supplies, fishing bait & firewood. The nearest store is miles aways, so it’s a good idea to come to this park, with most of the food & supplies that you need during your time spent here.

The Arkansas Little Grand Canyon trails aren’t marked (though there are paths), but just when you think you’ve seen it all, continue on & you’ll be able to walk further into the “canyon” area. Upon our arrival, after driving on an earthen dam or levee, we turned right & found an area where visitors park. After backing into a spot, behind us, we could see some unusual ground formations, so it was a short walk to that area. But, hiking on unmarked trails just up from where we parked, we came to what is known as “The Little Grand Canyon”. It is believed that this area was part of the Gulf of Mexico, after the Ice Age freeze started receding? Also, across from where we parked, is an area where you walk down to where there’s a small dam at White Oak Lake. When that dam overflows, water flows through the Little Grand Canyon.
Just down the highway from the TomsMaHauL.com motorhome at White Oak Lake State Park is the Poison Springs Battleground Park.
Tom is known for reading roadside markers, but there is also a lot of good Historical information in the covered passport area at the Poison Springs Battleground Park.
Tom captures a photo of Teri before we hiked the Poison Spring Nature Trail after strolling around & learning more about the Poison Springs Battleground. The hiking trail was a pleasant walk with a well-marked trail.
After returning from The Little Grand Canyon & Poison Springs Battleground State Park, Teri explored one of the 3 hiking trails at White Oak Lake State Park.
Tom spotted Teri returning from one of the well-marked hiking trails at White Oak Lake State Park.
